Where medical coding jobs actually are

Every figure below is stated with the source it came from. Counts, fees and job listings move; check the source before you rely on a number.

If you are training for medical coding to work in Kerala, you should see where the jobs actually are before you start, not after. Here is a count of medical coding openings on Indeed India, checked 12 August 2026, across the cities where this work concentrates.

Opening counts on Indeed India, checked 12 August 2026

CityMedical coding openings
Kerala (Kochi 20, Thiruvananthapuram 9)25
Chennai200
Hyderabad200
Bengaluru100

These are listing counts on Indeed India on the date above, not a forecast and not an average over time; they will move, and a live search today may show a different number. The shape will not: this work concentrates in Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Kerala’s own market is small next to them.

What Kerala pays, next to the other cities

On the same Indeed India listings, checked 12 August 2026, Kerala pay for this work runs 40 to 50 percent lower than Chennai’s, and Kerala’s range has no high end: the senior, better-paid roles that exist in Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru are largely not open in Kerala at all.

Why: the large offshore employers are not here

Checking each employer’s own career pages and job listings on 12 August 2026, none of the large offshore medical coding and revenue-cycle employers (Omega Healthcare, AGS Health, Sagility, GeBBS, Vee Healthtek, Episource, IKS Health / AQuity, R1 RCM, Cotiviti, Firstsource) had a Kerala listing. The one large employer that did have a Kerala presence, Access Healthcare, was hiring at Technopark, Trivandrum at senior level; its Kerala postings on that date asked for CCS or CIC coding credentials, not the entry-level CPC that a fresher’s course prepares you for. Hiring changes; these are snapshots of one date, not a standing guarantee about any of these employers.

Where Kerala’s real local demand actually is

Live hospital job postings, checked 12 August 2026, show Kerala’s real day-to-day demand for this kind of work is not offshore coding at all; it is hospitals hiring for their own medical-records and coding roles directly, at hospitals such as Lakeshore, Baby Memorial, Silverline, Meitra and KIMS WestFort, paying ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 a month on that date. That is real and local, and does not require relocating.

What this means if you are training in Kerala

The openings sit mostly outside Kerala: Chennai and Hyderabad at 200 each, Bengaluru at 100, against Kerala’s 25. Working for one of those larger employers is likely to mean relocating, or working remotely for them from Kerala. The alternative is Kerala’s own smaller hospital-based market, at the ₹10,000–30,000 a month set out above. Decide which of those two you are training for, and choose your course and your plan accordingly.
